Don't have sex!...but dress like a hooker.

I spend a great deal of time around the public. I see what people are wearing currently and much of it makes me cringe. I am amazed by how beautifully some people can put an outfit together while others barely manage to simply dress themselves. I find it rather amusing that in a country that tries, in vain, to convince the rest of the world that we are all Puritans and never have sex or impure thoughts, we run around dressed like street walkers.

As Americans, we are constantly told that sex is immoral. Don't do it, don't talk about it, don't ... don't ... don't ... it's dirty! Why then is it a staple of even the most basic television program? Advertisements would be non existent without it. And music! The current offering of songs are about nothing but explicit sex. Then there is the fashion industry.

While walking through the Orlando airport I witnessed a mother and daughter walking past me in the concourse. The mother was about 35 years old and the daughter was, maybe, 10. The woman was dressed to her age but the daughter's outfit was questionable. She was wearing a pair of Capri pants, which were fine, but the top she had chosen was clearly not meant to be worn alone. It looked similar to tuxedo tails in the back, the length of which was just below the back of the knee. This was not the problem. The front of this "shirt" was cut like two triangles joined point to point by one button right between her breasts. Keep in mind the fact that she is about ten. This top was not even designed to cover her stomach area and was meant to be a fun cover over a t-shirt or some other type of top. My issue was that her mother even let her out of the house without a real shirt underneath.

Another incident was on a plane in the first class cabin. A very shapely woman boards and it is apparent that she is proud of her body. She is wearing what amounts to a knitted fishnet jumpsuit. It's holes were the size of quarters and there were more of them than fabric. Underneath, clearly visible, were matching black bra and panties. In another instance, while I was sitting with a friend in a diner, a larger framed woman entered and leaned over the front counter. The outfit she felt was appropriate to wear while picking up dinner was a baby doll blouse and shoes. Because i was sitting off to the side of her, I could only see her in profile but the fact that I could see the whole side of her ass was startling. I guess it is possible that she could have been wearing a thong but I could not see any part of it. Finally, while waiting at a gate in JFK airport, there was a woman wearing a t-shirt with "I have the PUSSY, so I make the rules" written in three inch type.

These were just a few of the more memorable people. What in the world could these people possibly be thinking that tells them that these are outfits suitable for public exposure? Why do we expend so much energy claiming that we are a virtuous society, yet everything we do just screams sex, sex, sex! I am not a prude and have often said that I would prefer to see sex on television than glorified violence. I have always thought it silly when the censors cut out a discreet sexual scene from a show but are willing to show someone's head being cut off. Now that's entertainment!

Introduction

I work extensively with the public, so I see people behaving nicely and horribly. I am constantly amazed by the number of people that think their reprehensible behavior is acceptable. Sometimes it is that they don't think anyone is aware of their actions and other times, they act badly for no other reason to gain attention.

This blog is for expressing my personal opinions regarding current news or events.  I won't always write about people just behaving badly. Sometimes, I may write posts about peoples' apathy towards others or simply the degradation of culture in general.

Since I do recognize that there isn't anyone alive who knows all there is to know about everything, I welcome comments from my readers. I love a good, intelligent debate because I believe that there is a great deal to learn from others.

I do not plan on being purposely rude or disrespectful to anyone or any group but neither do I plan on going out of my way to be politically correct in order to make people happy. I will warn you now, if you are easily offended, you may want to stop reading now.

Let the carnage begin.
